Genesis is a 100%, fibreglass modified, polymer adhesive. A ready-to-use adhesive is obtained after mixing with Portland CEM I 32.5 cement (without additives) in a 1:1 weight ratio.

1.   Mounting of EPS boards to substrates.

2.   Embedding mesh onto the surface of EPS boards in the Dryvit Outsulation system.

3.   Evening out brick surfaces with a crack-resistant coat (maximum thickness: 5 mm).

4.   As a base coat for Ultra-Tex finishes.

Technical data

Weight: 26.7 kg net (pail)

1. For adhesion of EPS boards to substrates - approx. 1.8–2.0 kg/m2 (approx. 3.6-4.0 kg of ready-to-use adhesive). Consumption to a large extent depends on surface preparation. If the surface is smooth, consumption is also dependent on the thickness of applied coat.

2. For embedding of reinforcing mesh approx. 1.5–1.7 kg/m2 (approx. 3.0-3.4 kg of ready-to-use adhesive).

3. For preparation of base coat for Ultra-Tex finishes – depending on coat thickness, approx. 1 kg/m2 for each mm of thickness.

NOTE: Coverage rate has been determined assuming the product is applied by an experienced professional. The actual coverage may significantly depend on the condition of the substrate as well as application method used and individual experience.

 Working time

Working time of the ready-to-use adhesive after mixing with CEM I 32.5 Portland cement (without additives)  is 1-2 h depending on weather conditions.

Drying time

Drying time under standard atmospheric conditions (+20°C and relative humidity 55%) is 24 hours. During this time - both after adhesion of EPS board as well as embedding of reinforcement mesh – no further work may be carried out and the finish should be protected against water. Drying time in case of lower temperatures or higher relative humidity is longer. Full binding is achieved after 28 days. Avoid work on surfaces exposed to direct sunlight .

Adhesion strength

Exceeds tensile strength of EPS boards.

Vapour permeability

The Genesis coat is permeable to water vapour on Dryvit approved surfaces (brick, concrete, aerated concrete, plaster, gypsum).

Conditions of usage

Air and substrate temperature at the time of application and during the next 24 h may not drop below +4°C. The façade should be protected against rain and damage until it is fully dry and finish is applied or sealant and metal works completed.

Substrate preparation

Dryvit foresees the use of Genesis adhesive on brick, plaster, concrete, aerated concrete and external gypsum-paper board substrates. The surface should be level (± 6 mm within a radius of 1.2 m), clean, dry, well bound and free of blooms, mildew and agents that could hinder binding and adhesion.

Preparation for usage

The Genesis adhesive should be initially mixed. Next, half (approx. 14 kg) should be poured into a clean 20l pail and thoroughly mixed with equal amounts of Portland CEM I 32.5 cement (without additives) using a slow-speed drill and adding approx. 1 litre of water.

Cement should be added gradually. No more than 2 litres of water per bucket of adhesive may be added to achieve the required consistency. The adhesive should then be set aside for 5 minutes to enable curing and subsequently remixed.

Method of use

1. Adhesion of EPS boards

Genesis adhesive should be applied to the surface using the "frame and patch" method (frame: width approx. 5 cm of appropriate thickness and 6 patches inside the frame).

Adhesive covered boards should next be pressed onto the substrate in a manner preventing the binder from getting between adjacent boards joints should always be filled with thermo-insulation material.

NOTE: Adhesive should only be applied to the surface of EPS boards and never the substrate.

2. Setting base coat using reinforcement mesh

The reinforcement mesh should be cut to the appropriate length.

The entire surface should be sanded using sandpaper in order to alleviate all roughness exceeding 1.5 mm prior to embedding of reinforcement mesh. Dust should be carefully removed.

A uniform layer of pre-prepared Genesis adhesive should be applied to EPS boards using a stainless steel trowel. Adhesive thickness should not exceed approx. 1.5 mm on a surface slightly larger than mesh width. Embed the mesh immediately. Mesh should be embedded using a stainless steel trowel making movements along fibre from the inside to the outside in order to avoid mesh waving.

Clean tools with water while adhesive is still wet.

Conditions, storage time

Genesis adhesive should be stored in tightly sealed original pails at a temperature of at least +4°C for a period not exceeding 24 months from the manufacturing date, provided on packing.

Protect the pail against direct sunlight.
